Hole to Hide in
Have you been caught in a scandal? Did you publicly embarrass your employer and bring disgrace upon your family? Are you the butt of every new joke on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube?
If so, Hidey Hole Inc. has just the place for you. Our secluded underground apartments provide the privacy to wallow in self-pity while you struggle to create a new life. Amenities include comfortable park benches for crying, praying, or sleeping, and waist-high steel rails to drape over when expelling cheap wine.
To tour one of our apartments, tap on the manhole cover in front of Van Winkle Tunnel.
Darn good idea Russell, darn good. You sold it. especially with this line "waist-high steel rails to drape over when expelling cheap wine."
ReplyDeleteThat was certainly different! I too liked the alternative use for the railings ... good one.

I wondered how you were going to manage a humorous story with this prompt, but you did it! Great job. Loved it all but especially the "tap on the manhole cover for a tour..." Hilarious.

This is the most challenging prompt so far from a humor standpoint, but thanks to Bobby Petrino, I was able to come up with something to make people smile.
DeleteYou are a master of creativity and humor, Russell! This is fantastic. I like the way your mind works.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! I really enjoyed that. The Hidey Hole specially made for Mopes! Well done. Thank you so much for the grin. :D

Original take on the prompt. Also, it's a complete story in 100 words, which is difficult to pull off. Here's mine: http://furiousfictions.com.
ReplyDeleteMade me smile!!

This was great! I actually laughed out loud! And lets face it, we've all wanted to hide like that at least one time in our lives!

Dear Russell: Took me a while to find you. You got me at 'Hidey Hole, Inc.' and burst out laughing. I knew I was in for another fabulous, hilarious tale. How do you do it my witty friend? Sh....don't tell me. Let me enjoy the ride and the 'burst at the seams'...chuckles. Looking forward to next week's tale for more giggles. Here's mine:

Hahaha! Russell, I think this is hilarious and I bet ol' Coach is first on your apartment waiting list.
ReplyDeleteA good chuckle right from the start, building to a full on guffaw at the end. Nice!
